Tonight’s lodging in upstate New York. D Day 2: After breakfast (included), we begin our ride to Canada’s capital city of Ottawa. Time to enjoy luncheon at Ottawa’s “Old World”-flavored Marketplace. Afterwards, we’ll explore this fascinating capital city with our expert local guide, then we prepare to board the Canadian Empress, a 66 passenger replica steamboat. She was built in 1981 and designed to reflect the classic style of North American turn-of-the-century riverboats, 108' in length, 30' across the beam and shallow in draft. Her size allows her to navigate freely among the islands and through locks, some of which are inaccessible to larger vessels; thus providing close-up, "reach out and touch" scenic experiences. One of the most appealing features of the M/V Canadian Empress is her intimacy and friendliness which, of course, is derived from her size. This afternoon, we embark, meet your captain and crew, bid farewell to your escort and prepare to sail down the Ottawa River, past the Nation’s Capital. Later this evening we arrive at the town of Montebello, Quebec, our stop for the night. Each evening aboard the Canadian Empress, you can look forward to fun-loving entertainment in the Grand Saloon. Tonight is no exception—Join your sailing companions for fun and don’t miss those snacks at intermission. B, D Day 3: Buses depart to tour Omega Park and visit Chateau Montebello. Return to ship to depart for Carillon Lock (65 foot lift!). Later, we’ll tour the Carillon Power Dam, walking through the heart of the 654,000 kilowatt power station, the largest on the Ottawa River!
