4 Great Days, Every April, when the azaleas are in full bloom, the citizens of Norfolk, Virginia roll out the red carpet to honor the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) with a week-long celebration known as the Virginia International Azalea Festival. We'll be treated to a kaleidoscope of activity including the Virginia Tattoo, an extraordinary exhibition of marching bands, massed pipes & drums, military drill teams, gymnasts, Irish and Scottish dancers, choirs, and surprise guests! It's your turn to experience it in 2010! |

*(excluding $50 admission ticket to Tattoo) ITINERARY - Virginia International Tattoo, Azalea Blossoms and more! B, D= Breakfast, Dinner. Breakfasts are "deluxe continental", with cold cereal, milk yoghurt, fruit, danish, bagels, coffee, tea, etc. This sample Itinerary is subject to change. Day 1: We're off! Your friendly SeniorTours escort is on board the deluxe motor coach to host fun, games, entertainment, snacks and "open bar" beverages! We'll take mid-morning lunch, and mid-afternoon comfort stops, as we ride southward. We're bound for Virginia's historical and floral bounty, and this evening finds us in our comfortable hotel. We'll enjoy dinner in a nearby favorite. Afterwards, why not relax in the lounge or try out the hotel's sauna or Jacuzzi! D Day 2: After breakfast we visit downtown Norfolk. This beautiful city becomes truly breathtaking at this time of year when the azaleas are in full bloom. We visit Norfolk Botanical Gardens, resplendent with acres and acres of azaleas, as well as camellias, roses, dogwood, tulips and much more. We take a lunch break (on our own) at Norfolk's Waterside. This exciting festival marketplace is home to shops, boutiques, galleries and wonderful dining places. Then we're off to the Norfolk Space Arena where we delight to the Virginia International Tattoo. This unique event features precision marching bands, massed pipes and drums, dancers, singers and gymnasts. It's a true musical extravaganza! We'll enjoy dinner in the Tidewater area prior to returning to our hotel. B, D Day 3: Breakfast is served! A leisurely day of touring through Virginia's rolling hills and valleys featuring a stop to taste the history of nearby Williamsburg, VA. We'll schedule a drop off at the Williamsburg Visitors Center for those folks who would like to purchase the optional Williamsburg Admission Pass. The street of the historic area are open to all, and we will proceed to drop-off at Merchants' Square, adjacent to the historic area. You will have plenty of time to explore the historic district on your own, have lunch, and visit the shops in Merchants' Square. Tonight we'll view the illuminations of historic Richmond, one of the South's real gem. Dinner is served at a local favorite this evening. B, D Day 4: Good morning! After another delicious continental breakfast, we’ll board our coach for the ride towards home. But the fun's not over yet! We'll pause to visit National Harbor, the newest, most exciting new gateway to Washington, D.C., quickly becoming a destination unto itself on the banks of the historic Potomac River. Explore the galleries, shopping and waterfront activities, and enjoy lunch (on your own). With warm memories of great sights and good times, we ride homeward after lunch, with our estimated return home by late-afternoon, early evening. B |
