ITINERARY-FOLKLORAMA 2009!!

B, L, D=Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.  Some breakfasts may be deluxe continental “healthy start” with cold cereal, fruit, juice, beverage.  This sample Itinerary is subject to change.

Day 1: We’re off!  Fun, games, entertainment, and Senior Tours famous “open bar” goodies will help to make this a trip you’ll never forget.  We ride across scenic Pennsylvania today to tonight’s accommodations near the PA/Ohio border. D

Day 2: More fun, games, and entertainment today, as we roll merrily towards suburban Chicago.  We’ll check into our Chicago area hotel, home for the next 2 nights. B, D

Day 3: After breakfast, we’ll experience the surprisingly photogenic “Windy City” on a guided tour of Chicago with our own local expert. B, D

Day 4: Today we ride into the Wisconsin heartland, to “The Honeymoon Capital of the Midwest”, Wisconsin Dells!  Relax aboard the scenic boat ride through glacially sculpted cliffs rising100 feet above the water and glacial canyons. B, D.

Day 5: The “Twin Cities” of Minneapolis & St. Paul, Minnesota, home of the incomparable Mall of America–the only place in the world to find Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Nordstrom’s and more than 400 other stores—as well as a 7 acre theme park! B, L

Days 6, 7, & 8: We’re heading through the wild West, with lunch in rugged Fargo, ND.  Later, we cross the boarder into Canada’s province of Manitoba, arriving at our deluxe Winnipeg hotel (home for the next 3 nights) this afternoon.  The Folklorama fun begins!  Folklorama is an annual festival of cultures from all around the world.  Over 1500 performances by 3,000 performers from the countries and cultures of the world.  Each country has its’ own pavilion.  Italy, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Spain and England, are favorites...but there are over 34 more multicultural pavilions, each representing a nation’s unique culture through exhilarating entertainment, captivating cultural displays and traditionally prepared cuisine—Go ahead, try some of the traditional foods which volunteers spend hours and hours preparing for this event!  Your “passport”, included in your tour cost, gets you there.  During our stay here in Winnipeg, we’ll visit Folklorama each evening, and also enjoy sightseeing in Winnipeg, including the Manitoba Museum and the new Casino.  Meals included are breakfasts each morning, incredible multi-course dinners & entertainment at Folklorama. 3 B, 3 D

Day 9: Bye, Winnipeg!  We’re heading for Thunder Bay, the historic port city on Lake Superior.  We’ll experience the spirit of fur-trappers of Old Fort William. B

Day 10: Saulte Ste. Marie is our destination today.  Listen and you might hear the sounds of history as the river tells her story of events witnessed through the centuries. B

Day 11: After breakfast, we’ll visit the famous Soo Locks, past transatlantic freighters.  Don’t forget your binoculars & camera!  Later, nearby Mackinac Island, playground of the Rich and Famous!  Our coach stays on the mainland as we ferry over to this “auto-less” island.  Enjoy your horse ‘n carriage tour of this pristine resort and your elegant luncheon at the world famous Grand Hotel. Day 12: Quaint, Bavarian Frankenmuth, MI, is today’s highlight. B, D

Day 13: The fun’s not over yet!  More good times aboard the coach.  Overnight near the eastern Ohio border. B, D

Day 14: We’re homeward bound, and filled with music and memories, we ride eastward, with an early evening arrival home. B
